Position Summary: The selected candidates will teach 15 credit hours per semester in Computer Science and Information Systems.
Current department needs include teaching courses in data analytics and programming with August 2024 start.
Additional duties expected of full-time faculty include maintaining scheduled office hours; developing and revising curriculum; training faculty in new curriculum as needed; developing and implementing course and program assessment of student learning outcomes; developing and maintaining relationships with industry and academic partners; participating in college, division, and department meetings; serving on committees; and other duties as assigned.
Teaching assignments could be any combination of face to face (day or evening), hybrid or online, and are subject to change as needed.
On-campus presence is required.
Required Qualifications:
- Meet one of the following academic requirements:
1. A master’s degree or above in computer science (or subfield) or computer information systems or other as appropriate for teaching data science courses; or
2. A master’s degree or above with 18 graduate hours in computer science (or subfield) or computer information systems or other as appropriate for teaching data science courses; or
3. A bachelor’s degree or above and a combination of:
- at least two years of discipline-related work experience (non-teaching); and
- discipline-related course work at a level above the course desired to teach.
- (Discipline-related certifications may ease the course work and discipline-related work experience requirements.)
- Comfortable adopting new technologies and a desire to create/deliver effective online content
- Understand the importance of adapting to the changing landscape of higher education and the field of technology
- Demonstrated strong communication skills
- Commitment to diversity; ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints, collaboration, and teamwork
- Ability and desire to teach programming courses in Java, C++, C#, or Python and/or data analytics courses
- Teaching, training or industry experience in computer science, data analytics or related field
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching experience in data analytics, computer science, information systems, or related field at an accredited K-12 or college institution
- Industry experience in data analytics, computer science or information systems
- Experience with learning management systems and online teaching
- Experience implementing innovative teaching practices, including active learning, project-based, service learning, and other student-centered pedagogies
- Ability and desire to develop and teach cloud computing courses
- Ability to incorporate evidence-based and inclusive teaching strategies to engage students in their learning
- Familiarity with the current landscape of computer science education in K-12 and Higher Education
