Position Summary: Manage space planning and interior design operations across Johnson County Community College (JCCC) to ensure the college’s physical space supports the achievement of its short- and long-term strategic objectives.
Required Qualifications:
- Requires a bachelor's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience.
- Requires moderate skill set and proficiency in discipline.
- Conducts work assignments of increasing complexity, under moderate supervision with some latitude for independent judgment.

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Conduct space inventory and maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date records of space assignments, including classrooms, laboratories, offices, facilities, and other spaces across campus.
- Support analytical studies and conduct evaluations of space utilization, ensuring that space allocation is aligned with JCCC-wide standards and long-term goals. Seek methods to improve and maximize space utilization across campus. Present findings and recommendations on optimizing space allocation to JCCC’s Space Planning Committee and members of senior management.
- Employ design services, such as for space planning and programming, for college projects. Promote the effective use of college funds in planning for space needs and in the acquisition of assigned commodities and services.
- Meet with leaders and stakeholders across other departments to determine space requirements and address questions and concerns about space allocation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departmental leaders to understand needs and plan for the interior design of their spaces. Discuss product selection for office furniture, fixtures and equipment, flooring, wall treatments, window coverings, and interior signage.
- Develop innovative design plans for rooms and spaces in adherence to JCCC goals and project requirements. Develop design concepts, plans, and details that illustrate the design intent and use of materials. Prepare presentation material, layouts, and images for stakeholders.
- Specify, research, source, and procure interior design products, seeking opportunities to maximize project budgets and optimize quality and sustainability. Coordinate product delivery and installation for interior design projects and initiatives.
- Develop and manage the interior services master plan and replacement schedules for furniture and flooring replacements.
- Work with outside vendors to maintain and expand knowledge of products and availability.
- Use AutoCad to produce drawings for space planning and interior design projects.
- Develop and manage interior design budgets, tracking expenditures to ensure adherence to established budget measures. Develop cost estimates and forecasts for various interior projects and proposals.
- Work with architects to design the interior look and feel of the college while maintaining JCCC’s interior spaces to college-wide functional, accessibility, and aesthetic standards.
