Pay Range: AJCR $1,208-$1,344 per credit hour and in accordance with the adjunct table and determined based on relevant years of work experience.

Position Summary: Adjunct faculty member will be responsible for teaching sections of Health Information Systems (HCIS prefix) courses as part of the Health Information Systems program and must be available for both hybrid day courses and online courses. Specific position responsibilities include managing effective delivery of assigned HCIS courses in Canvas learning management system; preparing course materials for instruction; following provided course outlines and assessing objectives; performing administrative tasks such as submitting course grades, syllabi, and attendance; participating in professional development activities, and meeting with students as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in related field, or a combination of degree, industry-related training, and industry experience.
- Work experience with electronic health records systems.
- Extensive knowledge of health IT industry policies and national initiatives.
- Training/teaching experience.
- Internship management.
- Experience with distance learning technologies, including video-conferencing.
- Clinical knowledge and experience working in a healthcare system or vendor-related setting.
Required Skills:
- Industry-related skills in health information systems.
- Solid understanding of electronic health record systems and health IT key concepts and trends.
- High proficiency in office and communication technology.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to share current industry knowledge with various audiences and presentation methods.
- Resume writing and editing tailored to the healthcare information technology industry and job roles
- Skilled at personalized LinkedIn profile optimization
- Internship management specific skills including:
o Knowledge of best practices and regulations related to internships
o Project management (plan, implement and manage multiple internships)
o Relationship building to maintain strong relationships with stakeholders
o Detail-oriented
- Self-motivated to accomplish tasks within given timeline
- Expert level knowledge in some of the following healthcare areas: data analytics, quality improvement, coordination and interoperable health IT systems, cybersecurity, workflow analysis and redesign, population health, and EHR design, functionality, and usability.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years healthcare industry experience and 5+ years teaching/training experience.
- Teaching/training experience specific to electronic health records systems.
- Active involvement in local industry organizations.
Preferred Skills:
- Preferred active status of one of the HIMSS certifications - CAHIMS, CPHIMS or CPDHTS.
- Experience with learning management systems.
- Online teaching experience.
