Starting Salary Range:  $20.47-$26.35 and determined based on relevant years of work experience provided on application and resume.

Position Summary: The Johnson County Adult Education (JCAE) Transition Coach is responsible for assisting GED, English Connection, and English Language Learning students in succeeding in JCAE coursework and in all aspects of preparing for future success in college, a career, and their community.

Required Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree and 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Considered highly skilled and proficient in discipline.
  • Conducts complex, important work under minimal supervision and with wide latitude for independent judgment.

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Continuously research and collect data from community resources to establish and strengthen relationships with collaborators and to maintain an accurate and relevant resource database assisting students and staff.
  • Identify student needs and connect students in a one-on-one setting to share options for essential support services to enhance student retention.
  • Provide guidance and support to students during the college enrollment process, including the completion of college applications, financial aid, and scholarship applications, and assist students with preparation for placement testing, course selection, engagement with college counselors, and accessing college resources. 
  • Collaborate with Johnson County Community College (JCCC) Financial Aid and Scholarship department to host informational workshops at JCAE locations. 
  • Deliver personalized career coaching sessions and classroom workshops with students, helping them set and progress toward realistic career goals. 
  • Provide guidance in creating strong resumes and persuasive cover letters, conduct mock job interviews, coach students in job search strategies, and refer them to appropriate partner agencies to improve employment outcomes.
  • Foster partnerships and collaborate with JCAE and JCCC colleagues, external agencies, and individuals to actively promote JCAE programs and advocate for the resources JCAE students need. 
  • Utilize multiple databases to track and analyze data and develop reports on program trends to improve student persistence, retention, and completion rates. 
  • Collaborate with the JCCC marketing department to develop materials to promote JCAE programs and transition coach resources.
