Adjunct Faculty, Metal Fabrication & Welding Overland Park Main Campus
The JCCC Metal Fabrication Department is seeking a welding educator to teach courses in Oxyacetylene brazing, cutting, and welding; Plasma Arc Cutting, Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, Blueprint Reading, Metallurgy, and other welding classes. 1. Teach classes – teach metal fabrication classes for MFAB department Performance is acceptable when: Effectively teaches course specific content. Ability to demonstrate course specific laboratory activities. Use the college LMS, CANVAS, to log grades and communicate information with students. 2. Attendance – Adjunct Professors expected to be here to teach each class. NOTE: These classes are normally in the evenings between 5:00p and 10:00p M-R and often require 2 days/wk for each course. Performance is acceptable when: Be at the college before class is scheduled to start to prepare for lecture and laboratory activities. Check college email regularly, respond to students and faculty in a timely manner. 3. Training – Must complete required college training and attend mandatory meetings as scheduled. Performance is acceptable when: Attends Adjunct Professional Development Days (PDD) at beginning of each semester. Attends mandatory Technology Division meetings. Completes mandatory online college training before the deadline. 4. Communication – Must be able to communicate effectively with students and peers Performance is acceptable when: Communicate with students through college e-mail or CANVAS. Communicate need for metal with lab tech. Communicate with Chair any materials or equipment needed for teaching classes.

Position Summary: The Foreign Language department is seeking a Japanese adjunct professor to substitute and/or teach Elementary and Intermediate level Japanese language courses in the evening on Zoom or in person. JCCC is located in Overland Park, KS, the second largest city in the state of Kansas and part of the greater Kansas City Metro. The Kansas City Metro is known for its museums, restaurants, and music and art scenes. JCCC is similarly dedicated to creating and maintaining a rich cultural community, with an award-winning contemporary art museum and center for the performing arts located on campus. The Foreign Language Department is part of the Communications Division. Many of our students are non-traditional, military veterans, immigrants, international and first-generation college students. JCCC has a diverse student population and is dedicated to increasing its diversity. The successful applicant for this job will teach the equivalent of 5-10 credit hours per semester in Japanese or will serve as a substitute for day and/or evening courses. Create individual education plans for each learner and monitor progress toward passing the 2014 GED® exam. Instruct students one-on-one and in small groups. Guide and supervise ongoing study.
