Assistant Professor of Spanish in Overland Park Main Campus
Johnson County Community College is looking to fill a full-time faculty position in Foreign Languages to teach Spanish language courses. The qualified candidate would be expected to begin employment in August 2027. JCCC is located in Overland Park, KS, the second largest city in the state of Kansas, and part of the greater Kansas City Metro. The Kansas City Metro is known for its museums, restaurants, and music and art scenes. JCCC is similarly dedicated to creating and maintaining a rich cultural community, with an award-winning contemporary art museum and center for the performing arts located on campus. JCCC is looking for a full-time faculty position in the Foreign Language Department to teach Elementary, Intermediate, Heritage Speaker, Spanish for Hospitality, and Conversational Spanish courses. The Foreign Language Department offers courses in Chinese, French, German, Japanese, and Spanish and is part of the Communications Division. Many of our students are non-traditional, military veterans, immigrants, international, and first-generation college students. The successful applicant for this job will teach the equivalent of 15 credit hours per semester in Spanish. This person will perform other duties expected of full-time faculty, including maintaining scheduled office hours; developing and revising curriculum; developing and implementing course and program assessment of student learning outcomes; participating in department, division and college meetings; serving on committees; participating in any Spanish related initiatives at JCCC; collaborating with and observing adjunct faculty teaching Spanish and other languages; collaborating and working successfully with other full-time faculty in the Foreign Language department; and other duties as assigned. Teaching assignments could be any combination of face-to-face day or evening courses, hybrid or online, and are subject to change as needed. This person will provide extra and co-curricular opportunities for Spanish language students, participate in the planning and administration of all departmental initiatives, and participate in on-campus and off-campus events promoting languages. *This position requires residing in Kansas or Missouri.

By serving as a frontline point of contact for employee inquiries and maintaining the digital record library, this position ensures that compensation activities remain transparent, compliant with FLSA and institutional policies, and seamlessly integrated with the functions of Payroll, Accounting, and Finance.
