Starting Salary Range: $56,353-$73,290 and determined based on relevant years of work experience provided on application and resume.

Position Summary: The Employee Relations (ER) Specialist manages the relationships within an organization and the workforce. The ER specialist act as mediators to resolve workplace conflicts, investigate employee grievances, ensure compliance with labor laws, and guide managers through disciplinary procedures to maintain a fair, positive, and productive work environment.
Required Qualifications:
- An Associate's Degree with at least two years (2) experience in Human Resources, conflict management and resolution, student or workplace conduct, or mediation OR at least four (4) years experience in Human Resources, conflict management and resolution, student or workplace conduct, or mediation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Human Resources certification (e.g., SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP, or SHRM-CP).
- Two (2) years of experience in Employee Relations.
- Experience working in a college, university, or higher education environment.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking in more than one language; Spanish preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources (HR), Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience working in bargaining unit environment.

Position details include but are not limited to:
- Conflict Resolution & Mediation: Mediate disputes between employees or between staff and management to find amicable solutions.
- Workplace Investigations: Investigate formal complaints (such as policy violations, harassment or discrimination) and advise leadership on appropriate disciplinary actions. Provide recommendations based on investigation findings and consult ER leadership and in-house legal counsel on next steps.
- Performance Management: Coordinate the administrative functions of the performance management process for staff and faculty.
- Advising & Training: Train management on workforce relations and guide employees on college policies, procedures, and processes.
- Compliance & Labor Laws: Demonstrate and maintain knowledge of all EEO laws and ensure JCCC policies and practices comply with bargaining agreements, local, state, and federal labor regulations.
- Additional Administrative Functions: Serve as a primary point of contact for unemployment claims and requests to view employee personnel files.
- Title IX: Serve as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator for employees. Coordinate and investigate sex-based discrimination and harassment complaints.
- Other duties as assigned.
