Starting Salary Range: $23.16-$29.97 and determined based on relevant years of work experience provided on application and resume.

Position Summary: The Compensation Specialist supports JCCC by performing administration, maintenance, and analysis of compensation programs to ensure accurate, competitive, and equitable employee pay practices. This role is responsible for maintaining HR and compensation data within HR systems, processing employee transactions, and supporting compensation-related projects and reporting. The incumbent would assist with job evaluations, position management, and the development of salary offers for new hires and internal promotions. This role contributes to the administration of compensation programs, including the annual salary increase process, and participates in external compensation surveys and market research. The incumbent will work with HR, Payroll, Finance, and leadership to resolve data and process issues, ensure compliance with applicable laws and policies, and maintain accurate compensation records and provide customer service to employees and leaders by responding to compensation-related inquiries and assisting with analyses that inform compensation decisions.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and at least one year of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in an academic setting.

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:
- HR Systems, Data Management & Transactions:
- Utilize spreadsheets and HR systems to support compensation projects and analyses.
- Enter, update, and maintain accurate data in the Information Systems.
- Reconcile payment requests within the employee transaction system.
- Collaborate with Accounting, Finance, Payroll, and HR to resolve data and process issues.
- Compensation Program Administration:
- Provide support for compensation-related programs, including the annual salary increase process.
- Implement and administer established compensation-related policies and procedures.
- Participate in external compensation surveys, including data submission and validation with third-party providers.
- Assist in maintaining accurate compensation records and documentation.
- Job Evaluation & Position Management:
- Participate in the job evaluation process using established methodologies to ensure consistent position leveling and classification.
- Collaborate with senior-level staff and leadership to review, maintain, and update job descriptions.
- Assist with developing competitive and equitable salary offers for new hires and internal promotions in collaboration with hiring managers and HR partners.
- Compliance, Collaboration & Customer Support:
- Conduct research and stay informed about applicable compensation laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Work closely with leaders and experienced team members to receive training and feedback.
- Respond to basic employee inquiries regarding compensation policies and practices, including monitoring the functional email inbox.
- Compensation Analysis & Market Research:
- Assist in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting compensation data to ensure accurate and up-to-date market comparisons.
- Conduct basic market research and routine salary survey analyses using appropriate data scoping factors.
- Support the gathering of market data to benchmark and analyze the competitiveness of JCCC’s compensation program.
- Contribute to the preparation of reports on industry compensation trends.
- Assist in internal equity analysis and reviews to ensure fairness, equity, and consistency in employee compensation.
