Starting Salary Range: $48,364-$62,577 and determined based on relevant years of work experience provided on application and resume.

Position Summary: Johnson County Community College (JCCC) inspires learning to transform lives and strengthen communities. The Wellness Coordinator position supports this mission by planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating employee wellness and well-being initiatives for JCCC. This position supports a comprehensive, data-informed wellness strategy designed to enhance employee health, engagement, and productivity while contributing to reduced healthcare costs and a positive campus culture. Employee wellness is a strategic component of JCCC’s workforce and benefits strategy. By aligning wellness initiatives with institutional priorities and medical plan insights, the Wellness Coordinator supports JCCC’s commitment to being an employer of choice.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in health promotion, wellness, public health, human resources, kinesiology, health education, or a related field.
- Minimum 1 year of experience coordinating wellness, health promotion, employee engagement, or related programs.
- Experience planning and coordinating programs, events, or initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a higher education, healthcare, or large organizational setting.
- Experience working with employee benefits, wellness vendors, or health insurance providers.
- Knowledge of population health, preventive health initiatives, or workplace wellness best practices.
- Experience with budget tracking and vendor invoicing.
- Familiarity with systems such as Banner, NeoEd or similar enterprise platforms.
- Professional certification related to wellness or health promotion (e.g., CHES, CWWS, or similar).

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Strategic Wellness Leadership:
- Coordinate and execute employee wellness and well-being programs on behalf of JCCC.
- Participate in the annual medical plan review to align wellness initiatives with medical claims data and utilization trends.
- Develop and support wellness programming addressing high-impact health areas, including diabetes, heart health, and mental health.
- Promote a holistic approach to wellness encompassing emotional, environmental, financial, intellectual, occupational, physical, social, and spiritual well-being.
- Support institutional efforts to pursue external wellness recognition, including Kansas City Healthiest Employer.
- Program Development and Implementation:
- Coordinate, implement, promote, and assess wellness programs addressing physical, mental, and emotional health.
- Plan and deliver wellness initiatives such as workshops, seminars, Lunch & Learns, challenges, and educational sessions.
- Coordinate preventive health initiatives, including biometric screenings, flu vaccinations, and mobile mammogram clinics.
- Collaborate with departmental leaders to identify annual wellness activities, challenges, and classes.
- Communication and Engagement:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee wellness-related inquiries.
- Provide ongoing communication and education to encourage participation in wellness programs and initiatives.
- Develop and disseminate wellness resources and promotional materials.
- Embed wellness messaging into college-wide meetings and events.
- Partner with benefits broker, Caregiving carrier, Retirement carrier, and the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) to deliver consistent and relevant wellness content.
- Collaboration and Partnerships:
- Work closely with Human Resources Benefits and Safety teams to integrate wellness initiatives into broader employee engagement strategies.
- Collaborate with campus organizations, external vendors, and community partners to enhance the range and quality of wellness programming.
- Event Planning and Administrative Support:
- Research and secure locations for wellness classes and events.
- Plan and manage event logistics, including registration, setup, vendor coordination, and post-event wrap-up.
- Ensure appropriate tools, technology, and resources are available for wellness programming.
- Enter wellness classes and events into the Learning system accurately and in a timely manner.
- Budget and Financial Responsibilities:
- Assess, hire and supervise fitness instructors; prepare supplemental contracts and Electronic Personnel Action Forms (EPAFs).
- Maintain and monitor the wellness budget and Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) wellness stipend.
- Track expenses, implement cost-control measures, and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Submit invoices to BCBS for reimbursement.
- Coordinate fitness center access for spouses and dependents through the HRIS system.
- Assessment and Reporting:
- Track participation, engagement, and program outcomes using defined metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend improvements to enhance impact and efficiency.
- Other duties as assigned.
