Starting Salary Range: $20.47-$26.35 and determined based on relevant years of work experience provided on application and resume.

Position Summary: The Biological Sciences Laboratory Coordinator supports instructional excellence by managing the operational aspects of biology laboratories. This role ensures that all materials, solutions, and equipment are prepared and maintained for laboratory courses including:
- Principles of Cell and Molecular Biology
- General Genetics
- Microbiology Lab
The coordinator collaborates with faculty to update procedures and support new experiments, requiring substantial knowledge of biology and laboratory practices. Responsibilities include equipment maintenance, inventory management, hazardous waste handling, coordination and oversight of student workers.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences
- Experience working in a biology laboratory setting
- Experience with aseptic techniques and common lab equipment

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Prepare solutions, equipment, and materials needed for course laboratory experiments, exercises, reviews, and exams while maintaining clean and organized work areas. Ensure all items are properly labeled, stored, and organized.
- Communicate effectively with faculty regarding lab needs and procedures.
- Maintain and plan inventory of chemicals, solutions, equipment, and supplies, and maintain equipment in good operational condition; submit timely requests for replacement, service, and repairs.
- Ensure safety equipment (e.g., eyewash stations, showers, spill kits) is compliant with EPA, KDHE, OSHA, and other regulations.
- Manage and prepare chemical lab waste for storage and disposal while working with JCCC Director of HazMat Control, developing and implementing safety procedures for hazardous waste handling.
- Evaluate and update hazardous waste labels as needed. Prepare chemical waste for safe storage and disposal.
- Maintain active participation on the Science Division Safety Committee.
- Coordination and oversight of student workers.
