Position Summary: Provides day to day management of the Lifetime Fitness Center (LFC) at JCCC. Provides guidance, vision, leadership, and oversight to the Student Wellness program through planning and organizing events and activities on the JCCC Campus.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in physical education or related field with personal trainer certification OR Master’s degree in physical education or related field. Related fields include Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Sports Administration, Health or Health Promotions, Wellness, Health & Physical Activity, Health & Human Performance & Recreation, and Community Health.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues.
- Regular presence at department programs and activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior management or work experience in a fitness center.
- Prior experience implementing and maintaining a collegiate student wellness program.
- Experience with co-curricular programming at the collegiate level.
- Staff supervision and budget experience.
- Knowledge and utilization of general marketing and public relations skills.

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Provide Leadership for the Lifetime Fitness Center (LFC) at JCCC
- a. Provides leadership, direction, and strategic planning for the Lifetime Fitness Center.
- b. Hires, supervises, trains, and evaluates full-time and part-time staff, including orientation, ongoing staff development, oversight of work schedule and day-to-day activities.
- c. Creates employee schedules to ensure uninterrupted LFC operations.
- d. Ensures the safety of the patrons in the LFC while participating.
- e. Ensures that the LFC is safe and secure including emergency procedures.
- f. Responsible for the scheduling of equipment repairs and maintenance.
- g. Develops, implements, and communicates department and college policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- h. Coordinates the sharing of information regarding the Lifetime Fitness Center including all print and online marketing materials, campus-wide communication tools and social media.
- i. Works cooperatively with the Chair of Health and Wellness to perform management duties of the LFC.
- j. Manager must be available to be on the floor as required.
- Provide Leadership for the Student Wellness Program at JCCC
- a. Serves as a manager for JCCC Student Wellness, including organizing and directing collaborative wellness programming efforts and assisting with wellness event planning and oversight.
- b. Supervises/evaluates employees in the JCCC Student Wellness program.
- c. Responsible for creating programming for student wellness across campus.
- d. Oversees all aspects of the student wellness program including marketing, promoting, scheduling, and budgeting.
- e. Coordinates the sharing of information regarding the Student Wellness program including all print and online marketing materials, campus-wide communication tools and social media.
- f. Collaborates with various groups on campus such as Student Life, Counseling, and Co-Lab to communicate student wellness programming needs.
- g. Works closely with the Chair of Health and Wellness to oversee the program within department guidelines.
- h. Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean of Healthcare, Public Safety & Wellness.
- Effective Fiscal Management of Fitness Center and Student Wellness Operations
- a. Responsible fiscal management of budgets for the Lifetime Fitness Center and Student Wellness, which includes line items for supplies, equipment, and personnel (contracted and hourly).
- b. Prepares annual budget and expense requests.
- c. Works with vendors, procurement, and others for purchase, maintenance, and repair of equipment and supplies.
- d. Works within established college operational procedures to implement Fitness Center and Student Wellness improvement projects.
- SERVE AS A CAMPUS SECURITY-AUTHORITY (CSA) BY - reporting crimes to the designated JCCC Clery Act Officer in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
