Pay Range:  $25.81-$33.57 and determined based on relevant years of work experience.

Position Summary: Manage the design and creative strategy for marketing solutions to elevate messages and calls to action from concept to delivery on behalf of Johnson County Community College (JCCC).

Required Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Considered highly skilled and proficient in discipline.
  • Conducts complex, important work under minimal supervision and with wide latitude for independent judgment.

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Employ tactics that ensure all project requirements are met and aligned to JCCC brand guidelines, adhere to project objectives and strategic goals, and are completed on or before stated deadlines. 
  • Collaborate with departmental colleagues, including planners, writers, digital strategists, production partners, and colleagues from across campus who need tactical support for their initiatives. Meet to gain an understanding of marketing needs, capture ideas, and deliver impactful visual solutions. Plan concepts and ideas and present designs to stakeholders across JCCC and its affiliates. 
  • Create, plan, and deliver an integrated design strategic vision for print and digital design executions. Follow defined brand and aesthetic standards when making design decisions that promote JCCC and its affiliates to internal and external/community audiences. 
  • Use the latest design techniques to translate marketing and branding strategies in print and digital into innovative design campaigns that move the defined targeted audiences through the marketing funnel from engagement to action. Develop a nuanced understanding of strategic positioning and the needs of the target audience. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with copywriters, photographers, videographers, and other designers to creatively bring stories, data, ideas, concepts, and narratives to life using diverse types of media and substrates, including from print to digital to wayfinding and event promotion. 
  • Build and nurture positive relationships with vendors and colleagues across campus while managing expectations and incorporating feedback.
  • Produce, curate, edit, and revise photos, graphics, and infographics, working under a moderate degree of autonomy.
  • Champion continuous learning across the department and provide collegial guidance, direction, and feedback to current and potential students, interns, and Associate Designers.
  • Research and discover trends and techniques for emphasis, balance, contrast, and movement for a center of attention and point of focus for all designs.
  • Manage digital assets for optimization, accessibility, optimum communication, and proper alignment with vendor technical specifications. Catalog, organize, classify, and distribute digital assets, including audio, video, multimedia, and textual digital materials. Standardize concepts, terms, and relationships to search and retrieve digital files.
  • Track and monitor metrics and key performance indicators for various initiatives, generating ongoing reports to provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement. Make recommendations and adjust approaches as needed to achieve design goals. 
  • Maintain up-to-date industry knowledge of best practices and research emerging graphics and design tools, innovations, and technologies.
