Position Summary: Teach 15 credit hours (five classes) per semester of communication courses, which may include Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, Intercultural Communication, and/or Workplace Skills. Perform other duties expected of full-time faculty, including maintaining scheduled office hours; developing and revising curriculum; participating and contributing to department responsibilities; participating in college, division, and department meetings; serving on committees; and other duties as assigned. Teaching assignments may be day, evening, weekend, hybrid, online, on or off campus, and are subject to change as needed.

Candidates selected for interview will be required to make a teaching presentation as part of the interview process and to share student learning activities and assessments.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Master's degree with 18 hours in Communication Studies, Communication, Speech, or Speech Communication.
  • Two years of post-secondary teaching experience (not including graduate teaching) in the communication discipline.
  • Interpersonal Communication teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated strong teaching ability.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the teaching mission of a comprehensive community college.
  • Strong understanding of the changing landscape of higher education.
  • Ability to adopt new technologies.
  • Ability to deliver engaging online content.
  • Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, and students campus-wide.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's and/or Ph.D. in Communication Studies, Communication, Speech or Speech Communication.
  • Community college teaching experience.
  • Graduate coursework and teaching experience in Intercultural Communication.
