Work Schedule, Hours per week: Monday-Thursday 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, 40 hours per week

Pay Range:  $25.81-$33.57 and determined based on relevant years of work experience.

Position Summary: Design, build, program, troubleshoot, and maintain all building automation systems to ensure building comfort, air quality, safety, and convenience for Johnson County Community College (JCCC).

Required Qualifications:

  • Recognized as subject matter expert and advanced individual contributor professional. Requires specialized skill set.
  • Conducts highly complex work, unsupervised and with extensive latitude for independent judgment.
  • Requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree or 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record to be insured to operate college vehicles.
  • Must possess EPA Universal License.

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Install, troubleshoot, and replace site supervisory devices to ensure campus Building Automation System (BAS) infrastructure.
  • Program equipment for maximum possible efficiency of all building mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Retro commission all campus chiller plants, boiler systems, rooftop units, and air handling units to ensure proper sequence of operation and identify potential energy savings opportunities. 
  • Install, troubleshoot, and replace all field devices, sensors, and transducers controlling campus chiller plants, boiler systems, rooftop units, air handler units, variable frequency drives, and lighting controls.
  • Build and maintain campus database backup files for all devices throughout campus. 
  • Design, build, and maintain campus BAS graphics, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) alarm notifications, and Johnson Controls International (JCI) fire alarm system and lighting schedules. 
  • Act as the campus representative in meetings for new construction and retrofits on building HVAC and BAS infrastructure projects and equipment selection.
  • Train and assist all college Stationary Engineers, Maintenance Mechanics, and other college employees on BAS and HVAC systems.
  • Provide after-hour emergency call response and winter conditions snow removal when necessary.
  • Partner with JCCC Electricians, Plumbers, Carpenters, Custodial, and Grounds crews to help maintain the campus.
