Position Summary:
- Proctor will proctor and train potential candidates in the National Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT).
- Proctors will properly set up the eight CPAT stations and equipment prior to the test, accurately, safely, and
confidentially proctor the test and accurately document the outcome to ensure test paperwork is properly
handled.
- Demonstrate - will train and demonstrate potential candidates on the eight skill stations and equipment of the
Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT). Proctors will properly set up the eight CPAT stations and equipment
prior to the test, validate the operation of the skills stations, and the testing conditions prior to the test,
demonstrate the skills stations.
Required Qualifications:
- Physical Demands - This position requires lifting up to 75 pounds, standing long periods, climbing ladders, light construction and
deconstruction of CPAT equipment. Use of specialized Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- The position will direct other staff members and candidates in staying safe during equipment handling and operations.
- Ability to run, climb stairs, maneuver CPAT test equipment, and the ability to perform the CPAT test skills and
demonstrating the skills for candidates.
- Mental Demands - The duties of this position include effectively communicating with other staff members and candidates via written
and verbal mediums. This can occur during routine and non-routine duties such as equipment set-up, prop
construction and removal, CPAT installation and testing.
- Proper physical conditioning to lift up to 75 pounds, stand long periods, climb ladders, run, pull 185 pounds all while wearing
a weighted vest of 75 pounds. Ability to perform the CPAT test skills and demonstrate the CPAT test skills for candidates.
- Ability to construct and deconstruct CPAT equipment. Use of specialized Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- The position will direct other staff members in staying safe during equipment handling and operations.
- Mental Demands - The duties of this position include effectively communicating with other staff members via written and verbal mediums.
- This can occur during routine and non-routine duties such as equipment set-up, prop construction and removal, CPAT installation
and testing, during high-risk operations such as live-fire training environments where risks of injury to students and staff are
increased.
- The position requires effective written and verbal communication skills with state exam proctors, outside vendors
and community partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience or knowledge in firefighting practices.
- 2-3 years experience training/mentoring in fitness. personal fitness or conditioning coaching.
