Work Schedule, Hours per week: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, 40 hours per week

Pay Range:  $71,500.00-$94,000.00 and determined based on relevant years of work experience.

Position Summary: Lead, manage, and supervise all personnel, systems, and off-campus facilities for the Hospitality Management programs at Johnson County Community College (JCCC), including overseeing compliance with local, state, and professional education accreditation agencies.

Required Qualifications:

  • First-level manager.
  • Master's degree and teaching experience (industry or academic) in one of the core areas of the program required.
  • Manages the activities of supervisors and/or individual contributors.
  • Responsible for hiring, firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews.
  • Broad knowledge of the field with demonstrated leadership skills.

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as an advocate for the department, a collegial guiding influence for faculty governance, a responsive and responsible curriculum manager, a touchpoint for adjunct instructors, and a representative of the department regarding key issues and initiatives across campus. 
  • Provide leadership, direction, and training to departmental staff in day-to-day operations. Implement disciplinary actions as needed. Coach team members through issues or escalations.
  • Recruit, interview, and hire full-time and part-time faculty and staff. Measure and evaluate the performance of team members across the department. 
  • Conduct strategic departmental planning and develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines that align with program goals.
  • Facilitate the matriculation of students through admission, pre-registration, retention, graduation, and placement processes. Research strategies and implement initiatives that optimize student success and career development upon graduation. 
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with external stakeholders and industry partners to facilitate internships, job options, professional development, and networking opportunities for students in the program. Work with faculty to coordinate their respective connections and encourage participation with stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership for overall program curriculum development and evaluation to ensure program vitality, leading to student success. Use industry knowledge and data-driven research to guide future program updates, expansions, and improvements based on industry needs and trends.
  • Direct the formulation, prioritization, and implementation of the annual master plan at the program level in consultation with the faculty and program advisory committee per established policies and procedures. 
  • Develop, implement, and maintain department budgets. Track expenses and implement cost control measures to ensure adherence to budget restraints. Identify opportunities for continued cost-savings and efficient resource utilization.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative culture that promotes innovation and teamwork.
  • Oversee activities related to continued accreditation and compliance with JCCC policies, hospitality industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Prepare and submit reports and records required by accreditation agencies.
