Starting Salary Range:  $56,353.00 - $73,290.00 and determined based on relevant years of work experience provided on application and resume.

Position Summary: The Finance Accountant supports the mission of JCCC by managing financial operations through accurate reporting, account reconciliation, and regulatory compliance. The role maintains the general ledger, monitors cash flow, and manages fixed asset accounting to ensure the integrity of financial records. Assists with grant and contract oversight, including fiscal monitoring and reporting. The incumbent contributes to internal and external audits, prepares financial analyses and Board reports, and supports ERP system processes. Requires strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively both independently and collaboratively.

Required Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred experience in Higher Education.
  • Preferred experience with Ellucian Banner.
  • Preferred grants and fixed asset experience.

Position details include but are not limited to:

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:
    • Prepare the monthly Board of Trustees Treasurer’s Report.
    • Conduct financial analysis as requested. Prepare grant fiscal reports for internal stakeholders and external agencies.
  • Cash & Account Management:
    • Monitor daily cash flow for the college.
    • Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
    • Complete various other account/fund reconciliations.
  • Grants & Compliance:
    • Ensure appropriate documentation for fiscal transactions related to grants and contracts.
    • Assist with fiscal monitoring of grants and contracts to ensure compliance with applicable statutes.
    • Assist with preparation of audit schedules and documentation for grant compliance audits. 
  • Payroll & Systems Oversight:
    • Oversee the bi-monthly payroll information upload from the Human Resources module to the Finance module within Banner. 
  • General Ledger & Core Accounting:
    • Maintain the general ledger, including review and assessment for adjustments.
    • Perform accounting for fixed assets (subsidiary ledger reconciliation, depreciation, construction projects).
  • Audit & Financial Integrity:
    • Maintain financial records in accordance with audit standards.
    • Assist in the completion of the external audit.
    • Assist with preparation of annual audit schedules and supporting documentation. 
  • Other duties as assigned:
