Starting Salary Range:  $20.47-$26.35 and determined based on relevant years of work experience provided on application and resume.

Position Summary: The Compensation Assistant supports JCCC mission by providing essential administrative and technical support to the Compensation Team, ensuring the integrity of institutional pay practices and position management. This role serves as a primary driver of data accuracy within HR systems—including Banner and PageUp—by processing personnel actions, assigning contract data, and performing rigorous audits to ensure payroll reconciliation.
The incumbent assists in the administration of key compensation programs, such as annual salary increases and external market surveys. By serving as a frontline point of contact for employee inquiries and maintaining the digital record library, this position ensures that compensation activities remain transparent, compliant with FLSA and institutional policies, and seamlessly integrated with the functions of Payroll, Accounting, and Finance.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalency.
  • 3+ years of relevant Human Resources experience providing administrative support, with a focus on payroll, compensation, or data auditing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Higher Education.

Position details include but are not limited to:

  • Data Integrity & Systems Management:
    • Enter, update, and maintain employee and position data within HR systems.
    • Review and approve Electronic Personnel Action Forms (EPAFs).
    • Assign supplemental contract numbers. Perform digital imaging of compensation records to employee files.
    • Perform transcript reviews to verify educational credentials and ensure data integrity within the employee record prior to final system entry.
  • Auditing & Reconciliation:
    • Perform a rigorous audit schedule (weekly, monthly, semiannual, and annual).
    • Reconcile data within HR systems to correct discrepancies before they impact payroll.
    • Reconcile payment requests within the employee transaction system to ensure accuracy. 
  • Compensation Program Support:
    • Provide administrative support for annual salary increase processes.
    • Implement institutional compensation policies and procedures to ensure regulatory alignment.
    • Assist in external compensation surveys (data submission and result validation).
    • Assist in maintaining the Position Description (PD) Library. 
  • Stakeholder Collaboration & Inquiries:
    • Serve as the point of contact for basic employee inquiries regarding pay practices.
    • Collaborate with Accounting, Finance, Payroll, and other HR units.
    • Monitor the functional compensation inbox alongside the Compensation Specialist.
    • Assist with various compensation-related work projects and cross-functional activities. 
  • Analytics & Reporting:
    • Generate and distribute critical organizational reports.
    • Fulfill ad hoc report requests for departmental leadership.
    • Maintain accurate compensation records and documentation for compliance and historical tracking.
