Starting Salary Range:  $73,109.00-$96,115.00 and determined based on relevant years of work experience provided on application and resume.

Position Summary: The Director, Hospitality Management provides strategic vision, administrative oversight, and academic leadership for the hospitality program. This role serves as the primary architect of a collaborative department culture, balancing high-level institutional governance with the practical day-to-day management of faculty, staff, and fiscal resources. The incumbent acts as a bridge between the college and the hospitality industry, ensuring that the curriculum remains innovative, data-driven, and aligned with current market demands to facilitate student success from matriculation to career placement.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in hospitality management or related field, such as Business or Education.
  • Prior teaching or work experience at the community college or university level.
  • Demonstrated leadership or administrative experience, to include supervising faculty and/or staff; and managing day-to-day departmental operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance being the leader of a program (academic or otherwise) while working within the team concept.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience teaching in a hospitality educational program at the community college or university level.

Position details include but are not limited to:

  • Strategic Leadership & Institutional Governance:
    • Serve as a departmental advocate and a representative regarding key issues and campus-wide initiatives.
    • Conduct strategic planning and develop policies/guidelines that align with program goals.
    • Oversee activities related to continued accreditation, JCCC policies, and industry regulatory requirements.
    • Serve as a collegial guiding influence for faculty governance processes. 
  • Personnel Management & Team Culture:
    • Leads the coordination, recruitment, selection, and evaluation of full-time and part-time faculty and staff.
    • Provide direction and training to staff in day-to-day operations; implement disciplinary actions and coach through escalations.
    • Fosters a positive environment and collaborative culture to promote innovation and teamwork.
    • Act as the primary touchpoint and support system for adjunct instructors. 
  • Curriculum & Academic Vitality:
    • Provides leadership for overall program curriculum development and evaluation to assure program vitality leading to student success.
    • Serve as a responsive manager of the curriculum, ensuring it remains current.
    • Use industry knowledge and data-driven research to guide future program updates and expansions based on industry needs.
  • Student Success & External Relations:
    • Facilitates matriculation of students through admission, pre-registration, retention, graduation, and placement processes.
    • Fosters positive relationships with all external stakeholders through personal professional activities and by coordinating faculty participation.
    • Research and implement initiatives that optimize student success and career development upon graduation.
    • Nurture relationships with industry partners to facilitate internships, professional development, and networking. 
  • Fiscal & Operational Oversight:
    • Directs the formulation, prioritization, and implementation of the annual master plan at the program level in consultation with faculty and advisory committees.
    • Develop, implement, and maintain department budgets.
    • Track expenses, implement cost control measures, and identify opportunities for efficient resource utilization. 
  • Other duties as assigned:
