Starting Salary Range:  $18.22-$23.31 and determined based on relevant years of work experience provided on application and resume.

Position Summary: The Studio Arts Technician within the Department of Photography, Film, and Media Studies will provide the students with technical support in one or more of the studio arts labs.

Technical Support:
• Ensures safety procedures are strictly followed and hazards are minimized.
• Provides technical assistance to students.
• Prepares instructional materials for laboratory demonstrations and use.
• Provides guidance on assignments and demonstrates techniques in the specialized lab assignment.
• Coordinates laboratory schedule
• Coordinates purchasing
• Analyze and solve routine and non-routine problems.


Equipment:
• Ensures new equipment and supplies are ordered and put away in a timely manner
• Ensures inventory is maintained
• Ensures facilities and equipment are prepared for faculty
• Ensures Exhibitions are installed and taken down
• Ensures equipment is in good shape when checked out/in and ensures appropriate forms are completed.
• Maintains and repairs laboratory equipment
• Ensures equipment checked out is appropriate for the student.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completes assignments with little supervision.
  • May assist less-experienced team members.
  • Requires a MFA OR BFA plus 5 years related experience.
  • Advanced expertise in professional cameras, lighting, and sound gear
  • Advanced expertise in analog and digital photography processing
  • Advanced expertise in Adobe CC software
  • Advanced expertise in Epson fine art, large format printers
