Adjunct Assistant Professor, Communication Studies Overland Park Main Campus
Johnson County Community College is seeking qualified applicants for part-time teaching assignments in the Communication Studies Department beginning spring 2025. Instructors are needed for teaching on-campus, face-to-face classes. The current need is for morning and early afternoon classes. Online course assignments are not available for this position. Classes may include Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, Intercultural Communication, Personal Communication and Workplace Skills. Candidates must have the ability to use the Canvas LMS for syllabus and grades.
Adjunct Assistant Professor, Legal Studies Overland Park Main Campus
Johnson County Community College is looking for a diverse pool of applicants to increase its adjunct pool in the Legal Studies Department. This position requires on-campus teaching, but may also include online teaching. The Legal Studies Department consists of two programs: the ABA-approved Paralegal program and the Business Law program. Faculty in the Legal Studies adjunct pool teach the equivalent of 0-10 credit hours per semester in Business Law, the ABA-approved Paralegal Program, or both. Adjunct faculty may teach both online and on-campus classes, but ability to teach on the Overland Park, KS campus is required. Instruction should be engaging, experiential, motivating, and effective. Effective teaching requires, at a minimum - content expertise; - sound instructional methods drawn from the scholarship of teaching and learning and from practical experience in the legal field; - successful communication, including timely and substantive feedback; and - meeting institutional expectations related to class meetings, availability to students, attendance gathering, syllabi preparation and distribution, grading and maintenance of grade records, confidentiality of records, timely responses to requests for information, and other expectations of the College. - fulfilling stated College policies and procedures, including completion of mandatory training; - attending and participating in required meetings - exercising stewardship in the use of College facilities and materials; - submitting information or materials related to assigned duties as requested by College administrators or peers in a timely manner - working as an effective team member; - maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position. Candidates who would like to be considered should submit materials prior to the review date, along with responses to these questions: 1. Provide a list of classes taught and indicate for each (a) where it was taught, (b) when it was taught, (c) the approximate size of the class, and (d) whether it was taught on campus, online, or in a hybrid format. 2. Provide a statement describing your experience working either with paralegals or as a paralegal (required for those who teach in the Paralegal program).
Lab Technician, Electrical Overland Park Main Campus

American Sign Language/English Interpreter Overland Park Main Campus
The ASL/Deaf Studies Department at Johnson County Community College is seeking to hire an American Sign Language/English Interpreter to interpret for Deaf faculty, as well as JCCC faculty, staff, and students who interact with the departmental instructors. Interpretation services would be provided for class lectures, labs, meetings, and general interactions, while translation services may be required for texts, classroom materials, notes, etc. The interpreter must be flexible with scheduling, as both day and evening hours may be required.

Adjunct Japanese Professor Overland Park Main Campus
The Foreign Language department is seeking a Japanese adjunct professor to substitute and/or teach Elementary and Intermediate level Japanese language courses in the evening on Zoom or in person. JCCC is located in Overland Park, KS, the second largest city in the state of Kansas and part of the greater Kansas City Metro. The Kansas City Metro is known for its museums, restaurants, and music and art scenes. JCCC is similarly dedicated to creating and maintaining a rich cultural community, with an award-winning contemporary art museum and center for the performing arts located on campus. The Foreign Language Department is part of the Communications Division. Many of our students are non-traditional, military veterans, immigrants, international and first-generation college students. JCCC has a diverse student population and is dedicated to increasing its diversity. The successful applicant for this job will teach the equivalent of 5-10 credit hours per semester in Japanese or will serve as a substitute for day and/or evening courses. This person will perform other duties expected of adjunct faculty, to include collaborating and working successfully with other full-time and adjunct faculty in the Foreign Language department and other duties as assigned. Additional responsibilities: Provide extra and co-curricular opportunities for Japanese language students. Participate in the planning and administration of all departmental initiatives. Participate in on-campus events promoting languages. Complete ACTFL and/or other departmental training. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Candidates will be interviewed using zoom and will be asked to demonstrate a 30 minute Zoom class.

We are seeking an instructor for the following classes: FASH 231 – Merchandising Planning and Control Course Description: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to describe the management structure of retail merchandising operations, contrast merchandising functions among various types of retail operations, explain the buying process, explain the financial operations of retail merchandising and apply these principles in computer-simulated case situations. 3 hrs. lecture/wk. Supported Education Programs Instructors teach non-credit specialized instruction seminars for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in the CLEAR and CONNECT programs. Responsible for course content development and adaptation to meet diverse learning needs. Responsible for classroom instruction and evaluating student progress including testing, grading and maintaining an interactive Canvas course. Hold weekly office hours and collaborate with peer mentors to support student success. All courses take place face-to-face on the JCCC campus.
