Position Summary: Johnson County Community College is seeking qualified applicants for part-time teaching assignments in the Communication Studies Department beginning fall 2024. Instructors are needed for teaching on-campus, face-to-face classes. The biggest need is for morning and early afternoon classes. Classes may include Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, Intercultural Communication, and Workplace Skills. Candidates must have the ability to use the Canvas LMS for syllabus and grades.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Master's degree with 18 graduate credit hours in Communication Studies, Communication, Speech, or Speech Communication is required.
  • One or more years of college teaching experience in the Communication Studies discipline.
  • Computer literacy including ability to communicate, develop teaching materials and enter grades electronically.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills working with students, colleagues, staff, supervisors and community.
  • Demonstrated strong teaching ability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Communication Studies, Communication, Speech or Speech Communication.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the teaching mission of a comprehensive community college preferred.
  • Community College teaching experience.
