Pay Range:  $48,683 - $81,416 and determined based on relevant years of work experience.

The Respiratory Care Program faculty member will be responsible for teaching both clinically and didactically. The employee is expected to function in a multi-cultural, diverse working environment that respects all gifts and differences. A list of the key duties and responsibilities of Respiratory Care Program instructors includes:

1. Knowledge of program basic competency goals and standards, course and clinical objectives and outcomes, assessment tools, evaluation processes and systems, graduate entry-level competencies, and accreditation requirements.
2. Plan, implement, evaluate, and revise, as necessary, the curriculum for the program in consultation with the Program Director.
3. Participate in teaching in the on-campus simulation center, skills lab, and other clinical components.
4. Conducts regular student conferences and assesses, evaluates, and documents students' progress and concerns.
5. Meet regularly with the Program Director to provide up-to-date student progress reports.
6. Portray a positive professional attitude toward students and the teaching/learning process and utilize positive interpersonal communication skills.
7. Develop, coordinate, and maintain student records in conjunction with program policies.
8. Participate in the annual evaluation of the program, courses, curriculum revision, goals and standards, and evaluation systems, and assist in preparing required annual reports and self-studies.
9. Participate in the student selection process for entry into the program and the scheduled orientation sessions for prospective students.
10. Participate in developing and implementing new respiratory care program materials
11. Participate in the Program and Advisory Committee Meetings and Instructor Meetings and serve on other committees relevant to the program's goals.
12. Participate in continuing education to improve teaching and evaluation skills, maintain current knowledge and competence in Respiratory Care, and maintain active professional memberships.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree required
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in good standing, as evidenced by the National Board for Respiratory Care
Experience in assisting with curriculum development, innovative educational methodologies, and use of technology, student supervision, evaluation, and counseling
Knowledge of current respiratory care theories, principles, and practice.
Knowledge of respiratory principles, protocols, and procedures in medical, surgical, cardiovascular, pediatric, and neonatal intensive care; basic oxygen floor therapy and protocols; pulmonary function testing, bronchoscopies, blood gas interpretation, ECG, X-rays, and home respiratory care
Skills in interpersonal relationships, verbal and written communication
Educational technology
Must be BLS Certified
Must demonstrate at least four (4) years of current clinical experience, including adult critical care experience.
Two (2) or more years in a teaching position in an accredited Respiratory Care Program are preferred.
A current KS Respiratory Care Practitioner License is required for the position.
AARC membership is required for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree
BLS Instructor Certification, ACLS, or PALS Certification
Additional NBRC credentials (ACCS, NPS, RPFT, CPFT, SDS, or AE-C)
Neonatal/pediatric experience is a plus
