Position Summary: Conduct front-of-house management duties on the day of events and performances for Midwest Trust Center (MTC), ensuring events, performances, and productions are smoothly executed.

Required Qualifications:

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manage and give direction to a team of volunteers during events. Provide training and ongoing support to volunteers to ensure they are prepared for each event. Share safety and emergency procedures and communicate MTC policies. 
  • Prepare volunteers for events and assign event duties. Coordinate volunteer activities and communicate details related to assignments, changes, and event-specific information. 
  • Supervise and manage all activities pre- and post-event, including lobby activities, receptions, meet-and-greets, and merchandise sales. Serve as the go-to point of contact and decision-maker for events regarding volunteers, patrons, emergencies, etc.. - 
  • Lead preshow meetings that get everyone involved in a production or event on the same page and ensure operations run seamlessly with a smooth audience experience. Discuss questions, concerns, and all details related to timing, technical issues, house rules and etiquette, and front-of-house operations. 
  • Open and close the house for events. Prepare the theatre for patrons and conduct safety checks. Place programs or playbills in the correct location. 
  • Provide professional and positive interactions with patrons and deliver excellent customer service. Answer questions, give directions, and handle special needs. Conduct crowd control to manage lines and ensure orderly entry into the theatre. Verify tickets and guide patrons to seats. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with clients, patrons, and volunteers in potentially high-stress environments. 
  • Coordinate frequently with the box office, artists, production crew, security, maintenance, housekeeping, and other campus departments to provide the required services, safety, accessibility, and comfort to MTC patrons. 
  • Assist patrons as they exit and manage post-performance crowds in the entrance and lobby areas. 
  • Follow post-performance procedures, including developing end-of-event House Management reports, calculating volunteer hours, and settling merchandise commissions. Ensure the MTC is closed securely after events by locking doors and activating security systems. 
  • Ensure safety during events by overseeing emergency procedures, crowd control, and fire safety. This includes ensuring exits are clear and accessible and managing any medical emergencies. Remain prepared at all times to begin emergency procedures in case of an emergency. 
  • Assist with ticket sales, ensure that ticketing systems are functional, and help handle any ticketing-related issues such as exchanges or refunds.
