Life and Leisure (L&L) provides high-quality continuing education opportunities for individuals interested in exploring and expanding their artistic skills. Courses may include acrylic painting, drawing, photography, camera basics, iPhone photography, polymer clay crafting, and a variety of other visual arts topics. We are seeking qualified instructors to develop and teach engaging art classes across a range of disciplines.
Classes are offered in a continuing education classroom setting during morning, afternoon, and evening hours throughout the week, as well as on Saturdays.
Art instructors are encouraged to develop courses that draw upon their professional expertise, work experience, creative practice, or areas of significant personal interest. Through a diverse selection of topics, instructors help students enrich their personal lives, cultivate new skills, and explore their creativity. Instructors are expected to provide well-prepared, research-based course materials and deliver high-quality instruction that supports student learning and engagement.
Digital Accessibility Librarian

The Digital Accessibility Librarian role supports Billington Library through the evaluation of library resources in compliance with ADA Title II and WCAG standards. The librarian works collaboratively with colleagues across the library and the college in the evaluation of resources. The librarian will analyze VPATs (Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates) for library resources and determine readiness for meeting Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). The librarian will perform accessibility assessments of diverse digital materials, including e-books, databases, streaming media, and website content, using established checklists and guidelines. The librarian will identify and document common WCAG and ADA Title II non-compliance issues such as missing alternative text, insufficient color contrast, incorrect reading order, and improper heading structures. This position reports to the Collection Development Librarian.

Lab Assistant, Anatomy

This position is to support the Johnson County Community College (JCCC) students enrolled in human science classes and faculty by ensuring a safe, efficient, and organized laboratory and classroom environment. The courses the Anatomy Open Lab supports are: BIOL 140 (Human Anatomy), BIOL 144 (Human Anatomy and Physiology), and DHYG 138 (Head and Neck Anatomy). The purpose of the open lab is to provide time for students to enhance their learning that has occurred in the formal classroom setting. The open lab allows students to study in groups or individually. It is not meant to replace the formal learning experience or to serve as a formal learning setting. It is to enrich the student learning process in the Life Sciences by providing them additional time to study and to review models in preparation for tests.

Integrated English Language Education and Training Lead

The Integrated English Language Education and Training Lead is responsible for the design, development, and continuous improvement of English Language (EL) curricula to ensure compliance with JCCC, state, and federal funding and regulatory requirements. This role coaches and mentors EL instructors, observes classrooms for compliance, and supports the EL Program Coordinators in staff development and performance feedback. In addition to curriculum and instructional leadership, this position teaches EL classes each semester, evaluates student assessment scores to support placement and goal-setting, and supports part-time leads in addressing student needs. This role also assists with the development of JCAE policies and procedures and contributes to special projects and community engagement efforts, including program celebrations, marketing, fundraising, and curriculum-related events. This position leads fan engagement and supports game-day operations for home athletic events while developing promotions, themed events, and other experiences that increase student, employee, alumni, family, and community participation. The Coordinator also plans athletic special events and recognition programs, builds collaborative partnerships across the College and community, and supports outreach efforts. The Student Media Staff members support JCCC mission by being responsible for the multi-platform storytelling and promotion of The Messenger, the college’s official student news website. This role offers a professional-grade laboratory environment where student incumbents apply skills in journalism, digital media production, and marketing to engage a diverse campus audience. Working within a collaborative newsroom structure, the incumbent will specialize in a specific medium—such as social media management, investigative reporting, photography, or digital design—while gaining cross-functional experience in professional media tools and AP style standards. Social media production editor: The social media production editor is responsible for content creation, branding content, news content and social media management on all social media platforms, excluding Youtube.
Social media news reporter: Relay campus news on social media through vertical video and text.

Senior photographer: Captures still and video images of news and sports on campus, while working with reporters and editors to supply images for digital stories and the print.
Senior designer and illustrator: Creates illustrations, including infographics, and other visual explainers, as well as designs print products, including fliers and the semi-annual magazine.
Video/audio editor: Uses non-linear editing software to edit raw videos, podcasts (both video and audio-only) into cohesive, timely and accessible content.
News reporter (3): Covers campus news, life and sports through features, previews, and other creative topics to engage our diverse campus.
PR/Marketing: The PR/Marketing hire will work to get the word out about The Messenger by planning events, tabling, building partnerships and collaborations with other campus organizations, and this hire will have a say in social media content.
Podcast producer: Creates content concepts for multiple weekly podcasting shows by working with Messengers editors and reporters. Also needs to be active on campus to meet with people to bring on the show.
