Position Summary: The Financial Aid Accountant assists the Financial Aid Office with reconciliations and data analysis to inform decision making. Assist the Director in managing the federal, state and institutional funds requiring specific knowledge of Federal Regulations and principles of accounting. This position responsibilities include Return of Title IV, reviewing daily disbursement to ensure accurate payment of financial aid and working daily, monthly and semester accounting reports.
Reconcile and manage federal, state and outside funds of over $15 million.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business
Two years accounting or related business experience.
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, and implement appropriate solutions.
Demonstrated ability to complete work with accuracy and thoroughness required. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to effectively use integrated administrative computer systems.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Accounting or Business.
Previous Financial Aid or Higher Education Experience.
Experience with Banner and COD.

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manage financial aid accounting functions Manage, record and reconcile federal, state, institutional and outside financial aid funds. Ensure financial aid is distributed and accounted for according to federal regulations and cash management rules. Responsible for official and unofficial R2T4 calculations and applicable communication to students. Manage post-withdrawal disbursement report. Process daily and weekly accounting reports. Receive and process Tuition Reduction, Notetakers payment requests and AmeriCorps Payments. This position would work closely with Outside Donors, Business Office, Human Resources, as well as faculty and staff. 
  • Serve as the Financial Aid Liaison to the Bursar Office Assist in monitoring the daily disbursement report. Assist with Book Advance Process to ensure students accounts are credited correctly. Assist with retuning funds and processing uncashed checks. Work with bursar office to ensure correct deposit and receipt of outside scholarship payments on behalf of students.
  • Serve as Financial Aid Department representative Support and assist students with inquiries, questions and problems. Assist with other inter- departmental task and assignments upon request, including but not limited to answering incoming phone calls and assisting at the front desk. *Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity, may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing. Scheduling, shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.
