Position Summary: The Senior Business Analyst serves as a liaison between the business areas of the college and Information Services to provide technical support and solutions to meet user needs. Supervises/manages workload and performance for the business analysts staff. Maintains expertise in the business operations they support and a detailed understanding of the various systems/applications the area uses for their business operation. Analyzes the business operations to determine opportunities for automation and functionality improvements to support strategic goals and close any gaps. Partners with process owners to identify business process redesign and documentation needs for new technology. Educates and translates business requirements into functional specifications for Information Services resources as well as manages changes to those specifications. Possesses an understanding of the technology trends and uses this knowledge to showcase options to increase efficiency or enhance user experience. Participation in projects will include defining business and technical requirements, user stories, automation modeling, testing support, documentation, attending development demos, user training and assist with adoption. In addition, this position directly supports Business Services and Financial Services areas.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required, a degree in information technology, accounting or business- related field
Minimum of three years’ experience using integrated data base information systems. Minimum of three years project management experience.
Experience with on-line database query tools.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
A working knowledge of an ERP System.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree preferred
PMP certification preferred

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • 1. Relationship Management—Establish and maintain partnerships with business owners, technical resources and vendors. Act as liaison between customers and vendors to influence and provide direction regarding the functionality of (ERP) administrative computing systems and bolt-on products or software applications. Works on multiple projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project leader. Performance is acceptable when: a. Vendor deliverables are aligned with customer needs and processes. b. Ensure deliverables/solutions are met based upon agreed upon timeline. c. Provide and develop acceptable resolutions to customer needs through creative solutions and enhancements. 
  • 2. Supervise People– Provide direction and manage performance of Business Analysts in the Enterprise Application Support team. Work with Director and team to develop team guidelines, standards and procedures to ensure effective and efficient use of Business Analyst resources. Performance is acceptable when: 1. Professional development opportunities are provided for staff in their roles. 2. Progress update sessions are held with each staff person to provide direction. 3. Information is shared in regards to institutional changes and strategies. 
  • Process Improvement – Use creative problem solving to ensure correct, efficient, and innovative use of administrative computing systems. This person also ensures the functional area is aware of changes to federal regulations and information security policies and helps to ensure systems, data and processes are updated to maintain compliance with these standards. Engage in strategic planning to analyze and identify changes to business operations. Performance is acceptable when: a. Functional area management teams report feeling supported and aware of current options and administrative computing system capabilities via direct feedback and/or surveys b. Use creative problem solving to ensure correct, efficient, and innovative use of the administrative computing system(s).
  • 4. Business Analysis and Support - Work with functional areas to provide support for the college’s administrative computing ERP systems. Collaborate with partners within business area to align technology solutions with viable strategies. Supports complex business processes by troubleshooting application functionality, performing data analysis, coordinating data integration solutions, developing ad hoc reports, detailing software and data specifications. Performance is acceptable when: a. Support for bolt-on products as required is documented and confirmed. b. TeamDynamix tickets are closed in a reasonable amount of time. c. Data is identified and provided to end users as requested and in a timely manner. d. Functional areas report feeling supported and they are confident that their BA will work with them to resolve issues if and when they occur.
