Job Summary

Tutor students enrolled in JCCC Foreign Language (FL/ASL) classes, embedded in FL/ASL
classes, online, and in the LRC. Visit FL/ASL classes to announce/advertise tutoring services, and
to assist as needed. Support and mentor fellow tutors. Assist in the Language Resource Center as
needed. Maintain cleanliness and organization of materials in tutoring area.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
Two years college level Japanese with a grade of A or native Japanese speaker
Excellent communication skills in both English and Japanese
Ability to work independently but take direction as needed
Ability to learn and utilize effective tutoring techniques following best practices
Must be able to help with computer programs
Require good communication skills, including listening with understanding and patience
Ability to explain concepts in Japanese both orally and in written form in a one or small group setting


Preferred Qualifications

Master Degree or equivalent
Prior tutoring experience
Additional credit hours in Japanese beyond intermediate skills
