Job Summary

Tutor students enrolled in JCCC Chinese classes 6 hours per week, embedded in Chinese classes, online, and in the LRC. Visit Chinese classes to announce/advertise tutoring services, and to assist as needed. Assist in the Language Resource Center as needed. Maintain cleanliness and organization of materials in tutoring area.


Required Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent
• 1 year of college completed
• Minimum completion of intermediate Chinese II or equivalent
• Excellent communication skills in both English and Chinese
• Ability to work independently but take direction as needed
• Ability to learn and utilize effective tutoring techniques following best practices
• Ability to explain grammar, sentence structure, and usage in the target language, both orally and in written form, in a one to one or small group setting


Preferred Qualifications

• Two years or more of tutoring or relevant experience
• Additional credit hours in Chinese beyond Chinese II 
• Native speaker
